Don't get Banned from Google Adsense

Adding Google Adsense to your website is the easiest way to begin making money online. However a lot of newcomers in their race towards earning income fail to read through the Google policies and Terms of Service. Failure to keep your website inline with Google policies could result in permanent termination of your Adsense account. With a lot of websites out there suggesting ways to increase your Adsense income by going outside the Google TOS it's important for you as a publisher to understand these guidelines.

#1 - Code Modification

If you are as yet unfamiliar with Google Adsense, it consists of copying and pasting code generated for you onto your website. You choose the colors and layout and Google makes the code. Why bother fooling around with the code when you can generate a new design from their site and eliminate the possibility of getting banned.

#2 - Click These Ads!

Never give incentives to your site visitors to click on the ads. The Adsense ads will be relevant to the content on your page and alone should peak the interest of any visitors. To suggest clicking on them is a violation of Googles Terms of Service. Think about it, if you were the advertiser paying for every click would you want uninterested people clicking away, wasting your ad revenue with no intention of purchasing anything from your site?

#3 - Content

Interesting and original content is what keeps your visitors coming back to your website. But things like gambling, pornography, offensive language or even sites with no content are against the Terms of Service. This includes pages "Under Construction" or for registration. Adsense ads are not meant to be sent via email either.

#4 - Clicking Your Own Ads

Never, I repeat, never click on any of the ads displayed on any of your web pages. This is the worst violation and it will get you banned for life. This includes the use of any programs or robots to do it for you.

Those are the big no no's. There are also others such as no multiple accounts for one person, not having anything on your pages that looks like or competes with the Adsense ads, and never revealing your clickthrough rates or other specific information about your sites performance.

If for some reason you do get banned there is almost nothing you can do. Termination is completely at Google's discretion. At the minimum though I would suggest emailing them to understand why your account was terminated and try to work it out. After all Google's Adsense program is one of the best ways to generate income from your website, so why destroy your chance for a lifetime of income for a few clicks in short term?
